Handmade Victorian River Reed Floats
These are very neat little floats, made in the victorian stepped reed style. I make them with nicely mottled and dark coloured reed that has been under floodwater for a couple of years which has a wonderful ingrained patina. I thread them in black silk and usually make the tips from Balsa and stems from porcupine quill but i can just as easy use goose quill or cane as an alternative option.
