Mahseer Floats, Allcock Fishing Gazette Float, Float Tube, Float Box

Hello Float Anglers

I was digging around in some old fishing gear the other day and found an old Allcock Fishing Gazette float. The pin was missing and the rest was in generally poor condition so I thought id modify it so it could be fished with again. I have fixed a hardwood stem through the centre and filled along the inside of the old slit so its water tight. I have fitted it with a large strong brass eye and threaded the eye and bound the cork body top & bottom with thick grade nylon rod thread. I opted to leave the original badge and paint work which shows years of good service it has already given, it seemed a shame to remove it. The final step is to give it a signature and a nice glossy finish, it looks a treat and is a unique float which can be used again and again! If you have any old pike bungs laying around feel free to send them to me and il get them ready for this years pike season, seems a shame to leave them rotting in the shed! I can fit them with sight blobs or make them onto sliders with an eye top and bottom, Brilliant!!
.
I have also finished some more Mahseer fishing floats for my trip to India in January. Im not sure if anyone has float fished for them before so im making a selection for various conditions. The biggest one is a monster, its near 18 inches long and im hoping it will carry a big chunk of ragi paste. The smaller pair have 3 flutes cut into the balsa bodies and they are made on quill, greenheart and split cane stems. Im made them all as sliders so they can be used in deep water but the smaller ones would suit rubbers. I think the smaller ones would make great pike floats for trotting small baits so il be testing them soon to see how they work. If any of you have ever trotted a float with 15lb-20lb line via a big multiplier reel and a 4lb test pike rod be sure to get in touch, I need all the help I can get!!! Ha!! I have more Mahseer floats that will be finished soon, some smaller and some bigger so keep checkin in for more pics.
.
There are also some nice tench drifters made with cork bodies and reed stems. I have fitted them all with little sight blobs with the tips painted yellow and red so they can be seen at distance. They are great looking floats and I know they will fish really well.
.
Also pictured are a set of quill tip cork bodied chubbers and avons. I have whipped them in some nice pastel colour thread and inlayed them with some equally nice feathers. They are made to carry 3, 4 & 5 swan and will be ideal for this winters chubbing on the rivers.
