Hello Float Anglers
.
You will notice I have listed a few pics of a new float I have made from left over cork. I had lots of small sections of cork which I couldn't bring myself to throw away, sometimes I would use them for very small & tiny floats but for the most part the pile just got bigger & bigger every week. I was looking through a selection of old floats the other day & saw some were made of 2, 3 & sometimes more sections of cork, I suppose it was uneconomical for the likes of Harcork to throw away small sections of cork so they joined them together to make them into reasonable sized floats. I swiftly entered the workshop & got to work depleting my pile of cork off cuts into 4mm sections, 34 to be exact!! The end result is very nice but it entails a lot of filing edges and fiddly work, the cork has to be top grade to get good results but the effort is well worth it. This one is a big float at 9 inches long but if you like the look the same method could be used on smaller bodies on almost any float, quill & cane.

If you would like me to make you a float or two just get in touch via the usual e mail or my mobile phone number.
